West Vancouver's spectacular coastline and mountain backdrop provide the perfect setting for this quintessential west coast city. Cross the landmark Lions Gate Bridge - originally constructed in the 1930s by Britain's Guinness family to access their vast property development known as the British Properties - and in 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver, you're here!

Reward yourself with a relaxing afternoon poking around the village-like communities that make up West Vancouver. If you're on the lookout for antiques and crafts, Ambleside is worth a try while Dundarave is known for its boutiques and galleries. Or, why not relax with a walk along Ambleside Beach or stroll the length of the seawall which connects both neighbourhoods.

Horseshoe Bay is another unique community in West Vancouver. It is the departure point for ferries to Bowen Island, Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast. It's a great place to book a fishing charter, enjoy fish and chips and walk along the wharves of local marinas. The many restaurants offer ocean views, perfect for watching the coming and goings of the ferries.

Along the impossibly picturesque Marine Drive on the way to Horseshoe Bay, you'll find Lighthouse Park and its 75 hectares (185 acres) of majestic forest including towering Douglas Fir. The park's extensive network of trails take you out to the 1874 lighthouse - Canada's oldest manned lighthouse - and along the rugged coastline where seals can be found basking on the rocks below. After enjoying the lighthouse, ocean views and inter tidal zones of the Pacific Ocean, consider the view from the mountains. The road to Cypress Mountain is an adventure in itself with long switchbacks, spectacular viewpoints with photo opportunities second to none. Once at the top the choice is yours -- to ski, board, hike or just enjoy the mountain air.

West Vancouver is an extremely cosmopolitan community which is reflected in the many restaurants and cuisine.  From the shopping district of Park Royal to Horseshoe Bay the dining experience is as great and varied as the geography. Enjoy fabulous seafood in one of the numerous waterfront venues -- or sushi, steaks, Italian, Chinese, French to name a few -- in fact you establish the mood and West Vancouver has a restaurant ready to serve.

West Vancouver is exceptionally placed to offer many fun and exciting activities. 'The Shore' is famous the world over for mountain bike trails. The Baden Powell Trail is one of the many local trails that offer great hiking, for all levels of expertise. Tennis courts are found in most neighbourhood parks and there are lots of great opportunities to golf throughout the community that offer views, streams and orchards along with the frustrations of the game. Into fishing?  Salmon fishing is available from Horseshoe Bay all along with West Vancouver waterfront. Birding and photography abounds in the inter tidal areas right through to the mountain peaks. Boating and access to the 'ocean playground' from the many marinas in West Vancouver is safe and easy. If you are visiting West Vancouver we can challenge your level of participation from skiing to scuba diving and everything in between.
